Programmes >> Human Rights & Democracy Goal To empower the communities to understand, respect, defend and demand their fundamental human rights responsibly. Purpose To broaden peoples� horizon in civic and political life in order to contribute meaningfully to the determination of their destiny Objectives � To increase youth, women and children�s participation in governance and democratization process at all levels. � To enhance positive interaction between citizens and governors. � To ensure promotion, protection and redress of grievances in respect of Human Rights � To undertake child protection interventions. � To advocate for high quality life for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. � To facilitate access to information for development at community level. � To build the capacity of the programme in Human Rights, Democracy, Advocacy and Networking. � To research and recommend on salient issues affecting youth, women and children development in the area of Human Rights and HIV/AIDS. Strategies To increase youth, women and children�s participation in governance and democratisation process at all levels � Training of Community Based Educators and Child Protection Workers in governance, human rights, conflict resolution and peace building corruption and advocacy � Training of Theatre Artists in Theatre for Development � Training of Community leaders (ADC members: CBO reps, youth leaders, etc) in issues of human rights, governance and democratisation and their role in the community development in relation to human rights � Conduct community and district stakeholder meetings on youth, women and children issues � Conduct refresher training for functional literacy facilitators in functional literacy facilitation and PRA methods |
