Programmes >> Women & Children Goal To contribute towards the reduction of the spread of HIV infection, mitigating the impact of AIDS and human rights protection through gender equality, women empowerment and participation. Purpose Enhanced development of men, women, boys and girls in life skills that would protect them from contracting HIV/AIDS, support those living with HIV/AIDS and protect their human rights Objectives � To enhance the development of adequate life skills among women in difficult circumstances like sex workers, widows, teen mothers, adolescent girls and divorcees to comfortably deal will the challenges of life � To equip women in difficult circumstances with necessary vocational skills that will enable them to physically and or economically sustain themselves as they fight the spread the HIV/AIDS and social injustices against women and children at the community level � To promote gender equality and increase girls and women participation in fighting HIV/AIDS and socio � economic development of their communities; � To lobby and advocate in community (men, boys, girls, local leaders, opinion leaders for change in their attitudes and develop support systems for empowerment by undoing all the structures, attitudes and practices that negatively affect women and girls; � To bring general awareness in the communities on the role of women in development especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS. � To increase youth, women and children participation in governance and democratization process at all levels. |
